Mr. Fred-Mario SILBERBACH, Head of Cybercrime Investigations, BKA Germany Fred-Mario Silberbach is head of a cybercrime investigation unit with the German Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt – BKA) since 2016. Having graduated in Public Administration in 1991 in Wiesbaden he worked in the Counter-Terrorism Division and as investigator in the Serious Crime Division of the BKA especially in the fields of illegal trafficking with drugs, weapons, false money and crimes related to the international smuggling of stolen cars. In the years 1999 – 2000 he supported the International Court Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in Kosovo. Between 2003 and 2005 he studied Public Administration and Police Management at the German Police University at Münster. After returning to the BKA he became Deputy Head of the Management Office and led a working group and coordinated the workw related to an investigation commission of the German Parliament (Deutscher Bundestag) between 2005 and 2008. Since 2008 he worked as Deputy Head in a Cybercrime unit with different functions and responsibilities on a national and international level, e.g. in the development and implementation of cybercrime strategies, the improvement of the cooperation in the field of Cybercrime and also in the implementation of a Private Public Partnership in Germany.
